It was fun while it lasted. If you haven’t heard the news, Google announced last October that they will be shutting down Google+, the social network facet of G Suite. Since the start, Google+ has had a small and unengaged user base. There was also a privacy lapse that came to light in March 2018; this breach impacted more than 500,000 users. To put things into perspective, 90 percent of Google+ user sessions lasted longer than five seconds.
Rest assured that Google has updated its User Data Policy in the wake of the security breach, and only apps that directly enhance email functionality (i.e. email clients and productivity services) will have authorized access to the data.
